Eurofighter Typhoon- BAE Systems
This will be my final blog post for the semester, and I must say my first semester of college went by remarkably fast. This week mostly consisted of finishing assignments before the end of the semester and preparing for my two Friday finals. The last of the presentations in my Intro to Aerospace class were concluded this week and included probably my favorite presentation: Airbus. I've always liked Boeing and have never really thought much of Airbus. However, I thought it was interesting to look at Airbus from different angles. One thing that stood out to me in the presentation was the Eurphyter Typhoon, which Airbus played a major role in designing. The Typhoon is perhaps the most advanced 5th generation fighters to have been produced. The classmates who presented Airbus discussed how, despite its age, the Typhoon remains one of the world's most capable fighters, having exceptional maneuverability, armament, and stealth.
Perhaps the most notable event this week was the glider competition in my Theory of Flight class, in which students put their glider designs to the test by hurling their balsa creations from the track overlooking the basketball courts in the recreation center. I thought it was interesting to see the various glider designs and see how they faired. Thankfully, my glider was able to meet the the 60ft glide-distance requirement, going a maximum distance of 95 feet! Overall, the time and effort I put into designing and building my glider paid off. As I prepare for my first final on Friday, it's hard to believe that my first semester at MTSU is coming to a close. I had a great time this semester and look forward to what awaits me in in my future endeavors here in the MTSU Aerospace Department.
